Bicycle Love Response

I feel as though the theme of Godspeed's essay was dealing with the ups and downs of life.  She has to deal with plenty of low points during her experience, but she ultimately finds herself along the way and experiences some truly amazing moments.  Her description of cycling and bikes in general make it very clear that she felt a wide variety of emotions during her journey.  At the beginning, she says, "riding the Huffy felt like riding a horse."  However, later in her essay, she feels much differently about riding her bike.   Goodspeed says, "The speed and smoothness were intoxicating," which allows the readers to fully understand the joy she received from riding her bike by the time the trip was over.
